Default DX Engine removal help

I need info on getting the engine out of a 2000 Civic DX automatic "Vin 6". The main problem im running into is how to get the tranny away from the engine block... Do I take the bellhouseing off of the block? Do I take the bellhousing off of the tranny? What do I do with the torque converter/ flywheel? Do I have to take the tranny with the engine? I'm new to civics -I'm actualy doing this for a friend - so any information would be greatly appreciated.
