I am buying a Honda civic with about 100,000 miles on it is it better to get a timing chain or belt. What should I look for when choosing one any advise would be helpful! Thank you

You don't normally have a choice unless the motor that vehicle came with has a belt or chain. You won't be able to change it. With that said, the chain is known to require less maintenance than a belt.
