Default Engine identification?

Forgive me if this is posted somewhere, i tried searching but it's kind of a difficult thing to search for. How do I identify what kind of engine I have? I recently bought a 1992 Civic DX but *the engine has been replaced* by a 30k mile one from japan. I've already learned that 92 civic DXs have D15B7s, but is it possible it was replaced with something else? Or is that like the *only* engine that fits and so there's nothing else it could be? Thanks a lot.

left hand side of the block, you should see it fairly easily.

OK I located the code, it is in fact a D15B. But how can I tell if it's a b6 or b7 or b8? considering there's like a ~30-40hp difference between them?

Im assuming it has the big VTEC logo in the middle. if so then its just a JDM D15B. i just bought one.

woah hang on a sec. i know thats a JDM D15B block...but the spark plugs on that engien were on the front of the valve cover. it almost looks the head off of a 90-93 accord. but i dont think that can be right.
