Default Engine Re-build Part 1

Ok, so i said i would keep you guys up to date. Lots of progress today. Got new Garrett turbo in, dissasembled head and took it to work (Nissan) to have it washed in cleaner. Heres the outcome.

nice you gonna upgrade the valve springs to duel valve springs so you can rev that thing to the moon? I know my y7 almost all the way torn down and ready to be acid dipped and everything starting to get ported and port matched

Yeah, the head turned out real good. You know, i had never seen the style before but i like it!! Its a Garrett T3 that came on Mercedes 300d's. I just love the wastegate design, adjustable, and it dosent have the big control arm streaching across it. Now all i have to worry about are the pistons. As soon as im done writing this, im going to go drop the oil pan and get into all that. will post the pics.

Ok, we have lift off people. For the first time in a long history of working on cars, i removed my FIRST piston!!! YEEAHHHHHH. Now for the bad news. Because the engine was at TDC, i had to rotate the crank around to get to the journal cap on cylinder 1. As i am rotating, i hear metal clank on the ground. No good. I pick up what looks like a half of a thick ring with 2 grooves on it. I was very alarmed because i did not see where it came from, and upon inspection could not come up with it. I did consult my haynes and found out what it was, Thrust Washer. Now, according to the diagram, the 2 washers sit on TOP of the crank. HOw the hell do i reinstall. HELP!! Ok, now for fun pics.
