saying that "boosting the b16b would provide you with almost close to 300hp with i/h/e" wouldnt really work cuz if youd boost you wouldnt use the intake or header and you would most likely want a larger size exhaust. Im with aryiman on the B18B. Id build and boost that.

so you would say it wouldn't be worth paying $3700 for a B16B with 185hp but it would be worth it buying a B18B for $2200 with only 145hp...i know it's $1500 for 40 more hp but wouldn't it be worth it? plus boosting the b16b would provide you with almost close to 300hp with i/h/e as well... i don't know what decent engine list prices are, i got these from the site that reaper listed.
I'd really recommend researching before you end up blowing thousands on something that isn't worth it, and may quickly break on you depending on what shop you take it to. Shops are not reliable for information. Many shops don't give a **** what they put on your motor so long asyou carmakes it out the door, and they get their money.

i'm not looking at purchasing it right now, i'm thinking of doing it when my car basically runs into the ground with the y8 in there right now...i'd just rather spend like 5 g's on putting a new engine in a car that looks great body wise instead of purchasing a brand new car for like 20 g's...i just think it would be more efficient and plus i could get the added horsepower down the road with a bigger engine...i understand what your saying about shops not caring but what more research can you do? why would an engine quickly break?

Running improper engine management for the mods done to it. For research, I tried going the internet route, but I think buying a book would have been way faster learning method, even several books.

thanks for the info man...i've also found that some internet material can be misleading, the book route may be a safer bet...do you basically mean that the engine is improperly put together? even though it is regarded as a brand new engine it may be cheaply put together by an aftermarket dealer? would be best to go through honda? that could get extremely pricy though wouldn't it?

Engine assembly is usually not the problem. Most shops **** up or cut corners on the engine management/tuning/computer based ignition and fuelengine controls.

no, it won't "blow up" with just a simple swap and proper ecu to match, if you mod the motor and alter the fuel maps or anything else for boost, etc. then you may have a problem.
