Engine Swap in a 94 Civic LX
^ civics usually get up to 115-125 no problem... it's after 120 or 125 that they can't go much faster (and I absolutely don't condone going that fast).
But for the b16a swap, you're looking $2250+shipping for a good part of what you need for the swap. Figure in another $500-$700 for misc. things for the swap, too (doing a swap you want to replace the spark plugs, wires, and distributor, water pump, timing belt, and clutch).
If you order the b16a changeover or whatever HMO calls it (the $2250 one), you'll still need (in no particular order):
-rear T-bracket (for one of the motor mounts, it's $64)
-manual pedals (technically you could get away with just the clutch pedal, but then it's about 1/2" away from the brake which is just plain unsafe)
-Clutch fluid reservoir
-Clutch master cylinder
-Clutch hydraulic hard lines
^ that's off the top of my head, I'm sure you'll need one or two additional things, too

yeah, making power isn't exactly cheap. You figure an intake, header, and exhaust (the first three things most people do for their car's performance) cost about $1,000 total, and you're gaining 10-15hp at the most.
Personally, if I were you, I'd just keep the car you have now and work on it.. it's a lot more fun building a car than driving a stock car (if I was given $20k, I'd have one hell of a nice FC RX-7 or S13 240sx.... forget buying a brand-new car... I'd rather buy a $500 car that doesn't even run and fully build it. But maybe that's just me)

see that does sound like fun... for someone that knows what they are doing... i know nothing about the mechanics of a car. and im SLOWLY learning just by talking to my friends and what not but it seems less fun if i dont acutally get to do any of it and only reap the benefits of dumping money into it. anyway, i like the idea but i guess it just depends on what i want to do down the road.
for you i say save up for a new car, but I really want to do the same thing your looking to do. I pretty much want to swap an 99-00 si engine and tranny. (b16) and then turbo it.
An Si? Then I believe you'd have a k20 motor, one of the best honda motors to date as far as mods go. You could definitely turbo one, but it'll cost more than turboing a B- or D-series (but you'll also make more power).
But by turboing it, you'd void the warranty on the motor (assuming the car still carried a factory warranty). Personally, I couldn't care less about warranties, but some people do, so I figured I'd throw that out there.
