ls vtec can be a reliability problem. I would use a gsr or ITR block.

From what I understand, the LS connecting rods are longer, so they'll be subjected to more force on every rotation than the c-rods on the b16 and b18 setups. If you're not going to rev high, this might not be a problem. You could also get aftermarket rods. The gsr and maybe the itr have oil squirters near the oil pump to better lubricate the connecting rods and main bearings. This helps at the higher rpms that the gsr and itr were made for (I guess?)

Both of these links are pretty quick reads and tell you what sort of failures you'd see with the ls/vtec setup. It looks to me like it's all in the rods, pistons, and rod bolts. If you're looking for a daily driver and won't drive it to high rpm, maybe you could start with stock parts.

ls/vtec can be very reliable. It's all in the build.

Did you want to get a civic engine, or a swap for like a, integra or something?
