H22a or B18c5 (or b16a2......
What are general opinions on these two swaps. I know the h22a obviously is going to be quicker in my hatch, and has a monster load of torque, but the b18c has the vtec high revving ability, and more simplicity of getting it in there. What I want to ask is what do you guys think would be better in the long run for basic things like maintainance, what if I need to change a clutch later? Or adding headers etc. later on when more $$ becomes available? I heard the h22a in a eg civic is tight fitting so wouldn't this make it more difficult for me to work on later? Also I can get the b18c5 and h22a in my car for the same install price (I know someone that is very experience with swaps and will do the dirty work for me at a good "friend" rate of labour, lol) Second question what engine would you get in this position? B18c5 or H22a? All things considered down the road. Or b16a2 or b18b? (which is quite a bit cheaper then the other two)
don't even think about the b16 or b18b, man... You can get i/h/e on an h22 no problem...

Is this enough room for you? If not, go with the b18c5
Personally, I'd kind of recommend the h22 (like I said though, from what I've heard, the axles wear out relatively quick)

ya ill stay away from the b16a. The reason I would go h22a is to make it worth my time and effort to swap the engine. The compartment is alot less crowded then I was imagining too^^ I think I will go with the h22a. As long as those axles last a few years at a time I will be ok with that
I just ordered my skunk2 coilovers so they should be here by the end of this week. Anyone know where I could find a cheap set of wheels? Im actually just thinking of using some 15" steelies and putting on some high performance low pro tires on them until I can later buy some wheels so I can use the money for my suspension and motor work. Opinions on that? lol bit off topic Ill be posting pics and start a project thread as I go along

If you are planning on turboing it down the road I would suggest the jdm b16a second generationor the b18b just because they are cheaper. If your not going turbo then the b18c5 and definetely the h series are going to be quicker.
I have researched the H-series more then any other to date. Having said that, the only way I would drop the H into my hatch is if it was an H2B set up. I have not talked to one person that is happy with their H22A transmission, Im sure some people are okay, but I have heard too much about high rpm shifting problems and axle rubbing issues. And if I did do an H2B I'll tell you my girlfriend would be splitting the cost of fuel with me cause I'd be broke. If you want an N/A monster then you cant beat the H. With bolt-ons it can make 220 whp and 160-170 wtq. That is more torque then most fully built B20VTECs can put down for 1/3 of the cost. But if you want to turbo then the B18B or B16A are nice for that.
well I think I might just throw a gsr swap into the hatch. I have also talked to alot of people that have an h22a (including my buddy that would do the swap for me) and you can run into all sorts of little problems here and there sometimes. (cooling issues, axles, weight distribution, timing belt tensoiner problem) I think I would enjoy taking my car out for some friendly autocrossing and local honda/acura club meets a the track (not drag strip) so a gsr swap and gutted hatch would probally suit with a few high quality bolt ons as well and of course the suspension work (going to start on that very soon). I just like the simplicity of the b series swap, and around here there is not alot of fast civics so a gsr hatch should work for my purpose, lol and will be a big improvement over a d15b7[:@]. Im going to lighten the car as much as possible as its not really a daily driver, more of a weekend warrior/track car and just for summer fun. Quick question, will say a skunk2 exhaust system for a 92-95 hatch bolt up to the b18c motor's downpipe/cat? (I found one on kijii for sale: kijii is like craigs list)
