headgasket ?
how would i know when its gone?? i took the car to 3 diferent shops and every single 1 tells me different crap the thermostat, the head gasket and so on but the last place told me it was this. he said that u could smell the combustion fumes when u open the cap on the radiator but thats it. i c no water in my oil or anything or no white smoke outta my tailpipe only when its really cold but isnt this normal?? i c it on other cars as well,i just want to know for sure b4 i take it in for this prob thanks

RE: headgasket ?
First try buyin a new radiator cap........thats a 5$ fix if it works. IF the old one is shot it wont seal the rad shut and the coolant will evaporate out of it. The pressure in the system raises the boiling point of the coolant, so if pressure is lost (Ie faulty cap) The coolant boils faster and evaporates. If that doesnt work then there is a 99% chance it is your headgasket.....It may not be completly blown, but leaking....and on its way out.

Agreed. It might be a leak in the head gasket b/c if was completely blown it would be white smoke everywhere, all the time (happened to me). Whatever the case is, you want to find out what it is soon b/c if it keeps overheating the head or block will eventually crack. :-(

well dam is this an expensive fix?? ive changed my timing belt about when it had 100,000 and now i got 120,00 would it be a good idea to still change it out? what else would i need to look at or change? thanks

RE: headgasket ?
Well try the rad cap first....if that doesnt work then its the head gasket.....In which case I would personally replace the timing belt again, because its gotta come off anyway in order to remove the head.......If youre doing the work yourself....replacing a headgasket is cheap.....but if youre getting it done......well youre looking at a stiff price....like almost $1,000 at the dealership. Maybe check out a mom and pop mech......but make sure you use a OEM Honda gasket.

white smoke out the tailpipe and milky oil is a headgasket
you could try the radiator cap it wouldnt hurt but maybe your thermostat is sticking shut and causing your engine to overheat

I have almost the same prob. my over flow reservoir is pouring out from the radiator... i tho it was the thermostat.. so i remove it.. and it still doesit..
Any Idea ?.. i heard it could be the head gasket, just on the pre stage, and eventually get worsre, that what've been told.. if it the gasket.. got any post that show pix during the repair.. ?
