Default help me diagnose!

i have a 1990 civic hatch and recently its started running a little rough. it tends to idle wierd. it jumps from 500-1500rmps at stop lights. what can cause this? it is a 1.5 if that helps 4sd. other than that the car runns perfect when im driving. when it first started the car would shut off at idle occationally so i adjusted the idle. help me out.
