Default How do you prevent rust in an engine?

Hi. I don't see any rust in my engine, actually I did, it was like a nail or a screw that was rusty. How do you prevent your engine from being rusty or to take it off? I don't want my car to rust to death. I want to maintain my car, I know it's aging but yes whatever I can do to prevent and take care of rust I'll do it. Should I use WD-40? Is that safe? Or something else? Thanks!

sand off the rust, primer and paint. paint will help stop moisture from hitting the metal causing rust. de-grease ur engine too. that would be my advise.

Do not use tap/hose water to fill your radiator. Only distilled/bottled water.

^ why pay 9$ for a jug of half water and half antifreeze. when you can buy a concentrated jug of anti freeze for the same price.

also op umm your motor is aluminuim and aluminuim dont rust
also when you drive in snow(salted roads) stop at a carwash every couple days and spray the car down really good, get the under carriage done also.
