i was just curiouse .... i was wondering if u can get more rpm's out of your engine? and if so how? ...... if my stock tachometer reads 8k and i buy a new tachometer that reads 10k is there a way to get 10k out of your engine? (i kno you can set the aftermarket tach to what your engine is capable of eg.8k) I was just wondering thats all .....

 

there's really no point. the only thing you're doing by that is making it take longer to hit power.

 

i c ........ im just tryin to make sense of all this is all .... i'm not a mechanic :P ... i was just wondering because the Honda Civic SiR has 9k and my Si has 8k (my engine d16y8) SiR engine b16, and i want to convert my car to an SiR is all .... i dont kno if i'm making much sense to you that are of more experiance :-P..... i'm pretty much wondering why my engine redlines at 8k and the b16 redlines at 9k? what makes more rpm's in an engine?

 

well technically a heavier foot and removing a govener would result in higher RPMs but you would break stuff.

those two have the general gist...but its not discussed much here because general concensus is that building a car that makes power that high is kinda pointless.

oh and speaking of wich if you were to remove the governor will your car still pass the e-test? and how would i go about doing so?

 

yeah you dpass...but its not so much a physical thing as something programmed into your computer. youd have to replace the computer with something that you can fully manage.

 

youre engine makes its max power @6600 rpms......so going higher is pointless on a stock motor......its a good way to throw a rod too.

 

okay but if your engine is not stock, will u get more power @ higher rpm's?
