Default JDM Engines?

I have a guy that will drop a D15B into my 91 civic hatch for $900 complete swap w/3 month warranty. I just wanted to know if somebody knows if the engine is JDM and how many horses it has, I couldn't find any info. on it. I;ve heard that the engine is JDM if it doesn't have a number at the end of the engine code, ex/ D15B1 or D15B. Oh and another thing, how many horses does a D15B1 have. Thx

depends on which d15b......the carbed jdm d15b is absolute junk for that price. the vtec versions seem to do very well and imo would be worth that price along with the warrenty. d15b1 bone stock puts around 70hp at the crank. dropping in a d15b vtec wil be nice, but imo the money will be better spent on a mpfi conversion. not only will you gain more hp but better throttle response, fuel milage and ease to work on.

WAIT UR SAYIN IF I JUST CHANGE TO A MPFI...I'LL BE PUSHIN MORE THAN 130HP? THAT DOESNT SOUND RIGHT, I HAVE THE MONEY TO DROP THAT ENGINE AND I;M FEELIN 130HP COMPARED TO THE 72HP THAN I HAVE NOW. ANOTHER Q, WILL MY TRANNY BOLT RIGHT UP TO THE D15B?

ur tranny will bolt up but assuming u have a DX to begin with i would invest in a d16y8 tranny. the d15b2 tranny that came with the DX is junk(i have one) the y8 is the best geared d-series IMO

you wont get 130 on dpfi with that motor. you wont be able to use a y8 tranny in your car either unless you convert to a hydraulic clutch set up. cable si's are fairly cheap go for that. as far as what i said............i never said you would push more than 130hp but theres alot more benifits with mpfi......my 88 4dr stock with only a mpfi beat my buddies 88 std hatch with a d16a6 and dpfi. even if the motor your throwing in is 130 hp, you will never really have any potential without a mpfi conversion.
