Default lotta smoke :(

ok so..... my 91 civic dx (16 valve sohc) engine is buring oil. the spark plug and exhaust port on the 4th cylinder are all oily and gunked-up. im takin the piston out (hopefully tomoro if i have time, if not then ill have to wait till next week sometime) to check the rings, piston and cylinder wall. i've already checked the valve seals and they seem ok but im gonna put on new ones anywaycus i have some (other wise i'd just throw them out).

if anybody has any ideas feel free to let me know

oh and by the way the whole car has over 300 thousand kms on it so yea.....

Have you tried running a compression test? I would start there before tearing into the block

Your rings are going out. Run a leak-down test to find out which ones.

i didnt check and i was drivin w/ no oil then my father put too much oil in it. and it was smokin a lot. all dat messed up my engine. instead of gettin it fixed i got my mechanic to find me a new stock engine. it was a lil bigger. went from 1.5L to 1.6L cost me $1000.
