More HP
I just bought a 91 Civic dx hatchback
I was wondering what are some cheap, good ways to increase HP? |

With a D15B2, cheap power is pretty nonexistent. You might try a MPFI swap. I don't know if it will gain you any power, but it will definitely prepare you for more mods down the road. I think it might gain you a tiny bit of power... seeing as it's more efficient than DPFI.

It actually has a b16 motor in it from a 98 DX with 80k miles on it from the previous owner.
thanks for the link! |
98 DX's don't have a B16. Did you mean D16? As in D16Y7?
|
YES! haha its a d16.
my last car was an integra with a B18 so i get confused with the B anyways i dont want alot of power or anything. just enough to have fun. 170 to 180 HP would be fun :) |
Well, I hate to tell you this, but you won't get near that high of power on that engine without spending a lot of money. It would take more than an extremely built engine to make that power. You would need nitrous (illegal... stupid IMO anyway), or forced induction to make that much power with the engine you have.
If that's all the power you want, I would recommend an engine swap. It would cost a few thousand dollars, but would still be as reliable as a stock engine and would meet your power goal depending on what you use. A B18C1 makes 170HP, so that's what I would recommend. B16A2 will make 158HP, but they're torqueless (not to mention overrated) pieces of sh*t, so you might as well spend a little more and go for the B18C1. If you aren't willing to spend more than $1500, then you probably should just forget about it. |
if the motor you have is a d16z6 you could get close to 200hp with just replacing pistons and rods... and get a port/polish done to the head..with a valce job... and it should be less then a grand....
