Default New Civic owner - Opinions Wanted!!!

Just bought my first Civic EX. @ 3000 miles I noticed an oil leak. Just took it in and they said the leak is between the upper and lower engine block. They have to drop out the lower block and reseal it.

I know this is kind of out of the context of this forum, but I figured anyone with enough experience to be swapping ideas here is enough of a gearhead (a compliment not an insult!) to know what their talking about.

What do you think the long term impact on my engine life expectancy would be? I really needed this car to last (as in 200,000+ mi) as I put @ 23,000 mi/yr on my car.

Any thoughts would be appreciaited.Thanks!

im not really sure how long your engine would last. i do know that my step dad had a 90 civic hatchback and had over 350,000 miles and it still ran like a champ. it really depends on how u drive it. if u just drive casually it might last longer. if u beat the snot out of it, it might not last as long.

What is the exact component that is leaking? Is it leaking from the head gasket? I'm pretty sure the engine block is once piece. The cylinder head goes on top of the engine block. What year is it?
