so i drive 10 hours away and car broke down. the engine lost power in all gears then died. car has all fluids topped off still. no engine codes. when i took thep top of the oil fill cap oil started dropping all around the car. a mechanic shop sd that they found that the car needs new parts inside of the engine? what do yall think went wrong, the car will still start but makes alot of clicking noises and has no power at all. also price to fix will be from 950-1900. how much are junk yard engines? should I go that route? this car is good other than the above problem.

 

I got a junkyard shortblock for $85. Longblock was $40 more. Installation is what'll get you. Prices may vary.

 

Down here in va you can get a complete engine from the junkyard for $400, its not that difficult to swap yourself just take your time and do your research, how many miles was on the motor when it broke down? just curious.

 

sounds like timing belt is bad and has jumped a few teeth
