Default Is it okay to used 10w 30 motor oil??

When I bought my 94 Civic Ex i noticed that there was a lot of rattling noise under the hood but when i changed the oil to 10w 30 all the rattling noise went away and it sounded smooth again.

So i was just wondering if its okay to used 10w 30 motor oil because it said in the manual that it uses 5w oil.

no, 10w 30 is thicker, so its better where its hot, if its cold where you live, then use the 5w or 10w dont go thicker unless you have big leakage problems. if its hot where you live, then use 10w or even 20, but it wont really hurt anything either way, too thick will cost a LITTLE power, and if its really hot, then 5w or 0w is prob too thin.
