Default please educate me!!

Hi, I have a 2006 civic coupe. 1.8liter engine SOHC,140hp and redline at 6700rpm. Will running the engine at or near redline from time to time seariously shorten the lifespan of the engine?

Also, what type of engine is this as far as engine codes go??

thanks,
Paul

As far as I know, its oke to do it once in awhile. Consistantly will eventually kill it. But Honda makes a tough engine though.

If it was a vw you wouldnt have problems with redlining... but avoid it on your civic. They are tough little engines but they have their limits, they're japanese for crying out loud.[8D]
