port and polish is only effective with more air. boost, cams, etc. i have a PNP head but only with a larger tb and port matched IM and stage 1 cam. and either more cam or boost later.

Yeah, why spend the money if thats all you intend to do? Why get all that air flowing, if you not adding air to flow in it. Like the others said, get bigger TB, new intake, and at least a stage1 if not stage2 cam. I have a 62mm BBK throttle body on a Skunk2 IM and it works nice.

it would be worth it if you have more mods planned. personally i would do a vtec head swap and convert it to multi port fuel injection and obd1 to make about 20hp than stock and have a lot more capability in the end.

to me it is worth it because it is a foundation for building horsepower. this theory that i learn from my father is if you can get more air into the engine you can make more power. me personally i think if u get a good port and polish, port match and a valve job u should make about 15-20hp (this is not an exact number it can possibly be less it can possibly be more cause all engines are not alike and i am just guessing) cause i did a port and polish and port match on my D15 but i am not sure how much hp i gained because i do not have a Dyno. it was a waste of my time tho because i am going to do a mini me swap

mini me is the way to go my friend good idea. you will probably have more power with th minie me than the d15 ever will without a lot of mods.

Ahhhhh thanks guys. I was planning on adding a stage two cam. Another question I have is that i'm racing this car on an oval track. I'd like to have both top and bottom end power. I have a straight through exhaust with nothing on it. 2" pipe. I was reading the article regarding back pressure, so I went with the 2" pipe. We are not allowed to run with headers or any other air intake on it. If I plane the head with a P&P, new cam, is that gonna give me the top and bottom end.
We only run in second gear, we rev limit around 6500rpm.
