Default Quick Q re: coolant

Are you supposed to check your coolant level when the engine is hot or cold?

thanks mill$, that's what I was talking about. The overflow was below the minimum line. I'll drive home and then check again.

My reservoir is bone dry, my dad thinks its normal and i don't fell like arguing with him so i leave it be. One time the water pump broke and leaked all over his work parkinglot. There was also another time the car was over heating, my dad had to shut the car off b/w stop signs, but that was a while back. I dunno if that has anything to do with the bone dry reservoir, but it might.

just add a little water to it, and see if it keeps using it up.

yeah bone dry is not a good thing. adding too much is better then not enough. it will just run over if it needs to.
