Default road noise of 06 honda civic

I felt that the road noise of 2006 civic is much louder than that of Ford taurus se, which was my previous car. And I was told that 06 civic is quiter than before???? What is wrong? I knew that Japanese's engine should be better than US. Is it true? So why Honda can not overcome this problem? You know, Toyota Corola is quiter than civic!!! Thanks for your advices!!!

The difference I felt is based on the comparison between 06 Civic and my previous car, FORD Taurus Se.
