Default Does undercoating help reduce road noise?

I just bought 2006 civic. I am not satisfied with its road noise. Honda Dealer told me that undercoating help reduce road noise by 60%? Is it true? Does anybody have this experience? Thanks.

lol....can we say sales pitch!

I applied that stuff to new cars for about 6 months and I'm not saying don't get it...but I don't think it helps that much...at least not for sound dampening...if he says 60% I'd like to see a sheet showing the noise db in the car before and after it's applied. I put it on my Honda when I was working there and I didn't notice a difference.

You are better off installing dynamat in the doors and trunk and below the carpeting.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT UNDERCOAT!!! Undercoating is the leading cause of rust man. If you undercoat without first stripping it down, you trap moisture in there. That will cause rust eventually, and of course in the worst of places, the floor board. If you want some good advice, get this stuff called Polymeric Mastic. You can find it by searching through google, it is the same thing as dynamat, just without the foil on the outside, for half the price. I got 40 sq. ft. and it only cost me around 85 bucks, and that is shipped. Hell the trunk kit alone is more than that. I put it in my car, only cuz my exhaust puts out 91 db...A little annoying, but it sure sounds cool. It went from 75 db inside the car to 25 db. I also put longer exhaust hangers on, so that could have helped with the noise alot too. But man now my bass is nice!!! Look it up though, it works the same, just cheaper!
