well, to start i have a 1994 civic lx, my question, what is the best way to add power and a nice sound (in terms of the engine of course) in my vehicle with about $1,000. i thought headers, an intake, and an exhaust system would be rather enough, but idk.

a budget with a grand is enough to get most starting mods, those were my exact options i chose to improve my car but i don't have that amount of budget in my hands at the moment but good luck to you and have fun while doing it!

 

If you want immediate power, go for a short ram intake or cold air... dont do cold air if you live in a rainy place (they work like straws and suck up H2O). Install is waay easy, just take off the air box and strap on the new kit, that easy and it is only about 150 for an injen or aem... DONT GET IT OFF EBAY, though. Better get it from a shop. Exhaust kits on a mostly stock setup wont add any power, really, just makes it louder. Louder muffler= louder noise in the car which means you should tsunami (sound deaden) your trunk to cover the sound coz I hate that noise on long drives. Other than that , I am more into looks than performance so I would spend it on projector headlights and HID bulbs. Then do tail lights off ebay and you still got a couple hundred left to use on little stuff like extra bulbs and other effects. Good luck.
