Default Stupid Question but...

So when someone says for example a b16 short block or a b20 long block, what does that mean?

Thanks,

J

really?i always thought that it was the size of the block, like how there are domestic small and big blocks, big block, bigger engine, more displacement, small block smaller engine, less displacement. so i guess that i just figured that b16 was a "small block" and the bigger motors werent, but then again, i dont care if their long or short blocks. but i guess that makes since, cuz you would know whats included (kinda)

Big block does not always mean more displacement like a 427 is a "big block" well i have seen a 454 "small block" in reality all it is is designation in size of the block it self try this 350 small block long block crate motor

it means 350cubic inch small block complete with pistons connecting rods crank heads valves lifters push rods and rockerarms
