Question: I switched to synthetic and it's been about 3,000 miles. Should I go ahead and change it since it's the first round of synthetic? How do I change the filter without changing the oil (aka spilling it everywhere) inbetween 7,000 mile changes?

Oh yeah one other thing... that new "advanced" stuff they're putting out with advertised 15,000 miles between changes... is that stuff for real? How can that possibly be safe for your engine?

IMO, you're best off to go with Amsoil or Mobil1.

I live in Michigan, what kind of full synthetic should i use in the winter and what kind in the summer? Also you should always use a full synthetic oil for a turboed engine, i used to own a TT 300zx and i only used full synthetic Mobil 1 for it. If you starve that turbo with no oil you are looking at rebuilding it and if any of you know where the turbos are at in a 90's 300zx it is a pain to have to remove.

It depends on the temperature of the area you live in. I can't really remember with one i used in the winter and the summer but i used 10w30 and 10w40, i believe the heavier weight was for the winter but i never drove my 300zx in the winter.
