Default Time belt

Hey guys I didn't know exactly where this goes so I decide to just post it here. I have had my car for 2 years now. And I have never changed the timing belt I maybe within those 2 years put 15k miles on it, but most likely not. I'm prolly at 11k thats pushing it too. So how often does the timing belt need to be changed and is it cheaper to buy one from ebay or just let a shop sell me a generic one. Thanks guys, sorry for this newbiness but it is time I asked this way I can get it done :P

you want to start thinking about changing it every 80k along with water pump. But do you know the last time it was changed, you might have put only 11 on it, but if a previous owner put some serious milage on it before you, thats somthing to look in to

Well there was 2 owners before me when I got the car it was @ 83k miles now its almost @ 89 but between those 2 years my milage stopped working and I got it fixed in Janurary 2006. I guess it wouldn't hurt to do it right. I mean I'm guessing they didn't change the timing belt but I could be completely wrong. Anyway I can check for deteration (sp) of the belt? Thanks
