Default What does this bit do?

I bought a Honda Civic 1.8 VTi recently and the guy I bought it from had an induction kit fitted to the car. He replaced it with the original air filter box but the bit I circled above is missing. What is the function of this part and how important is it? Do I need to replace it ASAP?

Thanks

That's a cool car. Looks like it's just a resonator part of the airbox, doesn't do much other than muffle some of the sound.

Yeah that's what the guy said it was. So it basically makes the engine a little quieter but does it affect the performance in any way? If not then its cool because I like the way the engine sounds at the moment!

Cheers

they make a 1.8vti? i only thought it was 1.6Vti's?

For that part like already said it only muffles the sound a bit, if anythign i think it would hamper performance... but taht is me,
