Default Why does my motor bog down a bit when I turn on headlights?

A strange thing that I have noticed with my 93 DX is that whenever I turn on the lights, the motor idles a bit rougher and slows down just ever so slightly. The alternator is new and battery seems to be okay. Is this normal, or what other reasons could be causing this? Thanks!

I would think it is normal. You are pulling more power while running the lights witch makes the alternator work alittle harder.

depends on what you mean by ever so slightly. dropping a hundred or so rpm is normal for my cars but "bogging" sounds severe

Yeah, that's why I changed my wording in the actual post. It is probably normal. I am not sure how many RPMs it drops - I still need to get a tach for it.
