y8 head question
I have a Crower stage 2 camshaft and I have no complaints.
Since you are saying you have a 93 Civic around that you can use for parts, why not build that z6...bottom end and all? Or is all that in the future to come?

good crower is the brand i was leaning towards. i was thinking of going with the stage 2 also, it sounds about what i want. i was gunna go with the stage 3 because it said cylinder head modifications which i was planning on but it says ecu tuning which i won't be able to do till i get the new tranny. ^^ i was thinking of building the z6 but i fear it might be quite wamped out, its got over 260,000 on it and i know its been beat
You will need ecu tuning regardless of what camshaft you put in..... especially if your OBD2. Camshafts essentially allow the valves to open more and allow more air/fuel into the camber.
This is what happened to me. Without tuning, my ecu ran my Civic rich as all holy hell. I was averaging about 17 mpg. The ecu sees that something is wrong and tries to compensate the extra vacuum with extra fuel......(when I began typing that, it seemed as if it would be more in depth and longer lol). I got an E-manage with the Boomslang harness -$400 total- and sold it for half that, then I got an Apex-i VAFC -$100-, sold that as well since I couldn't get that to work. I think I had one that was broken or something. w/e
I finally realized I wasn't going to be able to tune the car myself without: A) a wideband and A/f Gauge, and B) a chipped OBD1 Ecu. I purchased an AEM UEGO since my buddy had one and never had problems with it. Then, I found someone with a Hondata S300 for a ridiculously cheap price (I was going to get the S200), so I bought that and I couldn't be happier. No more CELs, back up to around 25-27mpg ...depending on how I drive it.
