Unhappy MPG not so great. Any suggestions?

I have a 2011 Civic LX, and to say the least my MPG have not been as good as expected. I have switched to Chevron and Shell gas and still no improvement. I went on hwy with 3/4 of a tank and drove 150+miles and barely got 28 mpg. I deliberately set my cruise at 67-68 mph. Dealership said it is probably cheap gas, to try Chevron gas. When I first bought the car I would avg 26-27 city, now I'm lucky if I make it to 25. Have only got above 30 twice (31, 32) and those were 3 hr hwy round trip, watching my speed. Needless to say I am very disgusted, I bought this car to get better mpg. I am in sales and drive a lot. The car has 7300 miles on it, and maintenance is done at dealership and on time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I am really debating getting something else.

Well, isn't the EPA like 26-34? whats your driving habits? Otherwise, if you bought it brand new, you shouldn't have any issues at all. they say it is the gas, is there anyway to get a loaner from the dealership and see if that one would do any better for you?

I watch how I drive. Go speed limit on interstate and in town. Try not to take off fast or hard brake. Car was purchased new from dealership. MPG has been on a steady decline. When taking off I keep it around 2500 rpms. This gives a nice acceleration and shifts gears well, but I notice if I go above 3000 rpms on acceleration that it holds too long before getting into the last gear. I just want to make sure that I don't have a dud on my hands.

Give it time my 09 LX took a while to start getting better mileage, I now average 28-32 city do you do alot of stop & go? And change your own oil & filter it's not that hard check your tire pressure i have mine at 34 psi. Just give it time and don't go by the maintenance minder for oil changes i change my oil every 4,000 miles. FYI i have a friend that bought a 2012 Focus and guess what he's not getting the EPA rated 28 city 40 highway yet. Key word yet i know the owner's manual states the break in time is 800. miles but imo it can take 10,000 miles.

Thanks for the input. I did test it and drove just city and got 21. Then filled up and drove about 50 mi on hwy, the gas needle never moved. Got a whooping 47.8. When I filled up after that I barely needed a little over a gallon. Want to check city again today as that is all I have driven the past couple of days.
