"what have you done to your civic today?"
Hi everybody - This forum is really helpful for a Parts Changing Monkey such as myself. Okay, when I attempted to "search" the threads, this annoying Malibu ad keeps covering where I should enter the words. Sheesh, that's no way to try to get converts! My 2003 Civic gets 40 mpg and I never need repairs. Well, I complained to Chevrolet. Is nothing sacred? Please click on the offending site, if you get it, too, and tell 'em to take a ride

. In a Civic, preferably.

Sorry about that situation but still, post that somewhere else...stay on topic.
Just looked at my alternator today and im thinkin that i might be able to swap it out myself. Checked out sick @$$ Camaros and Mustangs today and contemplated selling my baby for one ;p haha totally joking.

Brake bleed. Used synthetic fluid. A mistake?
This was the first bleed. 2004 EX with 35k miles. (I have other transportation.)
I need to get more clay, then I can do that.
I've been purging the power steering fluid.
Drained the transmission & refilled with official Honda transmission fluid about 1 month ago.
Do I need official Honda anti-freeze? I'm going to drain what comes out then refill.

Washed, rubbing compounded, and waxed
Back to blacked the exterior trim
Cleaned the inside of the windows, windshields, and mirrors
Got the tires nice and shiny
Removed the ugly, dirty, mismatched hubcaps
Hooked the front speakers up with actual disconnects

HA I'm very relieved right now. Yesterday the biggest pain ever working on the car.
Replaced drivers door handle, washed and detailed inside.
So a couple days ago the spring broke on the outside door handle. Ordered a new matching handle from Honda. Figured it would be a simple easy fix. WRONG!!!
-Got the two bolts out that are holding the handle in the door.
-Got the locking rod off the cylinder lock. Couldn't figure out how to get the door release rod out of the handle so I snapped the arm on the handle that connects to the rod.(was able to get the little plastic connector off afterwards, still don't know how you take it off without breaking the handle.)
-Couldn't get the handle out still, the stupid locking mechanism plate was stuck by an invisible lock pin. Manage to rotate and pull handle out from the outside. Finally realized where the pin was(Would be damn near impossible to take out with the handle still in place in the door)
Here's the worst part. The cylinder lock fell out the casing, all the little springs and slides came out. LOL I put one it at a time until they were flush after inserting the key. I thought I screwed myself bad on that.
Then I had to figure out how to put the spring and ring back in place that helps center the key hole after turning it.
After trying about 10 times, I got the cylinder lock pin back in place on the new handle then the rest was easy. Out of all the things I've done to my car, this was by far the biggest pain in the ***.
BTW my Hayne's manual is usually good for help, but it was 100% USELESS with the door handle and locking mechanism. Here's what I got from it after removing door panel, "Remove two bolts securing door handle, remove connecting rods, pull out door handle(may have to remove pin holding locking mechanism). It never told me how, it just said, "DO IT!" It might as well sent me a box full of random parts and said "put them together", not knowing wth I'm doing.
