This weekend i polished her up and cleaned the inside pretty well.

Washed the dash and all plastic interior peices with warm water then applied a nice coat of armor all. No pics though since i was lazy lol.

-did the old throttle trick to improve throttle response
- Pulled the throttle body and cleaned the crap out of it (lots of carbon).
Anyone kind a enough to tell me whats this, and how to it?

Picked up the IAC, and I'll try to swap it out tomorrow.

Cleaning the throttle body is no big deal. Unhook everything, pull it off, either soak it in Berryman's B-12 or spray it down inside and out with B-12 and wipe it clean, then reassemble the whole dealio.

And yeah - what's this 'throttle trick' anyway?

Swapped out the IAC and things are SOOO much better. Even though I still have one CEL code to deal with (Air Charge Temp Sensor), the thing's running GREAT!!

Ordered the Temp Sensor from O'Reilly Auto Parts for $38, and it should be here tomorrow. Once that's done, I should have no more CEL. Then it's just a matter of 350-ish miles before pulling the valve cover to re-torque the head bolts, reset the valve lash, and re-time the engine for good. I can't wait for this mini 'break-in' period to be done because even though it hasn't been running quite right, I'm still pulling 28 mpg. That's officially 250% better gas mileage than my '97 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4.

OK - I got the Air Charge Temp Sensor swapped out, and the CEL is now off. Runs a little 'different' now too... and I'm not sure I particularly like the way it runs now either. The sensor I replaced was completely fried - a big blob of blackened plastic on the end of the probe that lives inside the intake manifold... which most likely happened when the previous owner overheated the crap out of the engine.

Now I have a 'new' light that comes on at weird times. It seems totally random, but I did notice it comes on about 1200-1500 rpms before I usually grab the next gear, and then goes off again when I push in the clutch. I think I've heard this phenomena referred to as an 'upshift' light. Man, is that annoying. It didn't seem to be working when the CEL was on.

Today I got back from my 10-day vacation in Myrtle Beach (which freakin' rocked),so all I accomplished today was circling the car making sure nobody vandalized or broke into my car (it's happened before... lost my driver-side door handle and both mirrors to a kid that tried to break into it when it was locked)... I think I'll show my baby a little TLC and give 'er a nice bath inside and out tomorrow.
