1991 Civic LX sedan questions.
Hey everyone.
I am going to be getting a 1991 Honda Civic DX Sedan inspected this week. I just have some questions that I wanted to ask some of you who currently own this generation and possibly could lend some assistance.
- The vehicle has 215,000 km's on it.
- Automatic
- Everything works in the interior electrical and is in good condition. Even had a carpet placed over stock carpet of the same color to protect it. OEM carpet is in great condition.
- Timing belt/chain done at 100,000 km's.
- Oil change done every 5000 km's
- Only surface rust near the passenger doors(bottom corners near the wheel wells. And under the chassis(no holes). The only rust that's a little more than surface is at the end of the exhaust pipe tip.
The little questions I have.
- It has a small oil leak and the owner(2nd owner) says that has been there since she got it(She's had it 2 years). No large amounts of oil comes out. It doesn't burn oil, anti freeze etc. I think it's just the oil pan. Could be a gasket which is what I'm thinking. Could it be more?
- When coming up to a stop the car is gearing down and it almost feels like it's going to stall when coming to a complete stop.
- During normal idle it's fine, the RPMS are around 900-1000. When you turn on the headlights the idle drops to 700-800 RPM. It seems to idle harder(at least I think). Is it normal for it to drop 200 or so RPMS when you turn the lights on? Is there a way to fix it?
So please bare with me. I haven't owned a 80's/90's Civic in 10 years and they had b16a swaps in them, not stock engine. They were also manual. This car is so stock it still has the OEM tape deck installed(not joking). Thanks in advance.
