Default 1991 civic si hatch vtec engine swap

hello, i just purchased a 1991 civic si hatchback in factory condition. it is in body shop now for minor repairs. before i yank the engine to rebuild it, i'm new to the honda car stuff. is there any of the vtec engines that will swap into my si with no modifications? i have a good friend who will rebuild what i have if not. ( he works at a honda dealership, has done so for almost 21 years.)

thanks. / cbronxrocket@aol.com

B16 is the classic engine swap. 160 horsepower enough? If not you could go with something bigger like a B18. There are a lot of choices. You could also import a D15B vtec, with 130 horsepower, and I think it would fit on your stock motor mounts since it's a d series to d series swap. (D15B would be the cheapest)
