Question 1995 civic dx 1.5 sohc, distributor issues...

I just recently bought a 95 civic DX with a 1.5 sohc...The motor was completely ripped apart...I've pretty much got it all back together now,but running into 1 issue... Does the shaft of the distributor have a seal??? and if so, can it be replaced???

There is a seal in the distributor to keep oil from getting inside it via the shaft. Offically the seal is not supposed to be replaced in the field (swap for rebuilt distributor instead), but you can find them.

There's also an o-ring on the groove on the part that inserts into the head to keep oil from coming out and running down onto the transmission. That part is commonly replaced because they harden and leak with age.

The o-ring on the shaft is the one I'm looking for...

I think it's actually a lip seal not an o-ring. If you knock out the pin to remove the driver piece on the bottom, the shaft will come out. Before you do that make sure the bearing is OK, if the shaft wobbles you would really be ahead to swap the whole dizzy out.
