I'm thinking it's getting time for a new engine. I would like something with a little more power but most of all I want something with better gas mileage and not too expensive swap. Am I better off going with the same engine or going with an engine from an EX (d16y???). I've researched but can't find an easy reference for the names again.

At 306K miles, anything will probably have more power. Which engine, though...This depends on your goals for the car. Is it just a daily driver? Swapping in a D16y8 is probably the cheapest route. A little more expensive, but more power? Go for a B18b1 for non-vtec. B18c1 (integra GSR engine) for vtec.

 

if you want something with alot of power if you are willing to pay alot of money for it, i would recommend a K20A engine with 6 speed manual trans from ebay for about $4000

 

Sorry I should have said this will be mostly a daily driver that I put 80 miles a day on and I'd prefer it to not to cost any more (not much more) than what a stock engine would cost to install and maintain.
