2005 Civic LX trouble starting
I am not too much of a mechanic. My 2005 Civic LX 5-speed manual has been having trouble starting from time to time ever since it had 1,500 miles on it. It now has about 106,000 miles and still has a problem with it. The dealership has been trying to fix the problem the whole time. They did change the battery at about 33,000 miles and I did not have the problem again for about another 40,000 miles. I do have satelitte radio and a subwoofer in the car. The sub's power comes directly from the battery, a cable hooked up to the terminal. I do not know if this might be the problem. If anyone has any thoughts on how to fix this please let me know. It is quite annoying carrying a jumpstarter around and making sure it is always charged up.

RE: 2005 Civic LX trouble starting
When you say that the car has starting problems, I assume that you mean that the engine cranks only slowly or fails to crank. If so, then your battery is drained and needs to be recharged or replaced. This problem possibly may be caused by (1) an overloaded electrical system, (2) a bad battery/corroded battery terminals and connectors, and/or (3) a failing alternator. Regarding the latter, does the charging system light (battery symbol) ever turn ON while the engine is running?
-Take your car to an auto parts store (e.g., AutoZone) where they will check your alternator and battery for free. If your battery is low, they may also charge it for free.
-Clean your battery terminals and connectors so there are good electrical connections.
