2006 rear suspension problem
My 06 just chewed up it's second set of tires in 44000 miles. The dealership was reluctant to say anything to me except that the rear suspension arms were bent. My tire guy said the arms were NOT bent and that this happens all the time to newer Civics and gave me a TSB from Honda about rapid tire wear and replacing upper control arm. It looks to me like they may pay some of the tire cost as well as doing an alignment.
My dealership has not yet said they would pay for an alignment or offered to pay anything on the tires.
Has anyone had this done? What are my chances of getting the dealership to do this for me for free? They have already charged my $95 to tell me that the control arm was bent when they obviously are trying to cover the problem.

Well, i have a 08, and the only suspension prob i ever had was my right rear strut.... it blew and also messed up my spring, but Honda did right and replaced everything.....then again my ride only had 14000 miles.

Took car to dealer today. He wouldn't budge on helping me with cost of the tires but rear control arms are covered under extended warranty. I also twisted his arm until he agreed not to charge for the alignment of $99. Every little bit helps.

Yea there was a service bulletin back in April 2008. I had a copy of it in my hand when I went in this morning. But as it was explained to me "A service bulletin doesn't mean a recall. It simply alerts dealers to potential problems" My only bit of leaverage was that he had told me the arm was bent and everyone else who looked at it said it was not bent. I mentioned that he charged me $95 to diagnose a problem that he knew the answer to before he got into it thanks to the service bulletin. So he begrudgingly did my alignment for "free". Hopefully the fix is better than the original part.
