2012 Civic HF - Thoughts?
The new 2012 Civic HF is about to be released ..what’s this community feelings on it?
Things like engine and auto trans ..etc Any feedback is good as I’m thinking of this or a VW Jetta TDI.
I currently have a 2004 Civic HX CVT and are not thrilled with this CVT trans performance after 125k… shifts jerky..i believe its due to wear on the 'chains' from one set of gears to another... but other wise great trans

civic----VW TDI
In my family we have a 2010 Civic and a 2009 Jetta TDI-------this is an odd paring for making a selection for just one car.
From a performance point of view these are totally different. The Civic has next to no torque and the TDI has tons---and when you drive these the TDI simply feels like a jet on comparison. The TDI also has that German connected road feel and one could not say that about a Civic.
The TDI in real world driving gets 38-39 and the Civic 32---both do better on long hauls. The TDI would cost several thousand more.
Also note my TDI has been recalled 2 times so far.
I really like my Civic and use it for commuting---it gets good MPG and is reliable--but it is not performance car.

Thanks for the real world comparison! Just what I was looking for... I like the TDI for mileage...but do not need the head ache for recalls.. thank you
