Well, there we go! your gas mileage is sucking because you're going too fast and the engine is sucking gas mileage! I got 43.5 cruising at 55 MPH with A/C off and windows occasionally cracked open. And I did this in the middle of a Florida summer. What we need is to find the cruise speed on the Civic, that is, the speed that the car gets the best fuel economy. It could be a litle more or less than 55 MPH.

wow dude i can't believe that mileage for the fit...that is terrible! you'd think it'd be hella up there with the way things have been going with the new rides getting huge mileage but that is hella weak

Maybe your car is running richer than Bill Gates...
Actually, thats not true. His insane gas mileage could be acredited to running too lean.

Well, let's see, it weighs MORE than the EG Civic, has the SAME amount of power, and has the aerodynamics of a BRICK to boot!

The EG Civic is between 2300-2400 lbs., whereas the newer Civics are much bigger, fatter, and heavier.

The newer cars have hundreds of pounds of creature comforts, safety equipment, and the like added onto their already bloated bodies. The EG Civic has a drivetrain, controls, four seats, and four wheels. Nothing more.

Wind, I'm only getting low 20's , but I floor it everywhere, so I don't know, and it doesn't burn any oil.

I'm surprised no one has said it yet. I'm sorry, but you are NOT getting 61 miles to the gallon. You made some sort of mistake, were in the mountains (where air is less dense so you get more mileage from less wind resistance) or it did not happen. You should always fill your car till it clicks so you can actually chart the mileage. You must have made some mistake because that is NOT possible. Sorry, someone had to say it.
