Actually, the mid 90s VX was capable of 60 MPG. One Denver area newspaper, Rocky Mountain News, runs an auto review column each Saturday. The Feb.9, 1994 column tested a 94 Civic VX for three days over 208 miles and recorded an average of 61.2 MPG for the tank. This was a mixture of open highway driving on the eastern CO plains for the first 102 miles (68 MPG on this part of the drive) mixed with some city driving in Denver. Not too bad for a 100% gas powered car with no battery pack. That shows the potential of the VX, at least a new one with a clean fuel system, no engine deposits, and 100% functioning electronics.

It doesn't matter what the VX gets. He was driving a 94 EX anyway.

 

Shaggy, I hate to burst your bubble, but one tank and 208 miles does not an average make. If I turn my engine off at the top of the hill and coast to a stop a mile later, I have used no gas so I got 1000000000 miles per gallon. Any test ofshort length is going to be biased either high or low. Now if they had gotten that mileage over 10 tankfulls it would have had merit.

 

I blame it on a short tank and pump error [uncalibrated pump]. Happens to me too on a short tank and bad pump.

 

Thats some crazy story just like a wild urbanlegend! Well i wish we all could have luck like that!
