Default 94 civic drivers door locking help

When i lock my doors with the auto-lock switch thing.. it doesn't lock my drivers door unless i pull the door handle on the outside, while pressing the lock. What is this and how do i fix it?

My guess would be that the lock actuator in the driver's door is failing and needs to be replaced.

When you are in the car and the door is closed, does the lock switch work for both sides?

The civic has a anti-lock-your-keys-in-your-car thingy that when the switch is pressed and the driver's door is open, the door will not lock. So, if the door is open, you can pull on the handle while pressing the lock switch.

ya thats normal... you want that! keeps you from locking your keys in the car!!!!!!

either pull the inside handle and then hit the lock switch and then let go of the door handle... otherwise lock the car with the key from the outside OR buy a keyless entry system for the car and never have to touch the factory lock button again....
