Any info on mod to enable locking driver door (while open) without pulling handle?
I realize this is a civic forum but this sort of a general any-older-honda issue. I have a 95 del sol, OEM power locks, no remote keyless.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to disable the driver door "dummy lock" function (where to lock the driver's-side door with the door open requires the handle being simultaneously pulled back)....
i.e. I want to be able to (once-again) push the power lock button on my way out of the car and have the door locked immediately without taking the extra effort of pulling on the handle.
I know it can be done, because for a long time that is how my lock worked after I asked CarMax to "fix" that issue when I first bought the car 4 years ago (I don't know what they did)... but after recently having my window busted by some hooligan and the glass replaced by a auto-glass-tech... I stopped being able to just hit the power lock button to lock while the door is open, and now have to do it the "correct" way while pulling on the handle.
Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm interested to see the answer to this. I didn't even realize you could lock it while pulling the handle back... I've been locking it with the key.
hummm. most interesting. i did not know that either - had to go out and try it, and it does work like that. and i have an 88 sedan with power locks and no remote.
but that defeats the purpose of what i always thought was a very good honda idea - and that is that you can never lock your keys inside the car.
and i didn;t know that you could hit the power lock button while the door was open - i thought that it comes unlocked when the door is closed (have to check that - just cant right now).
i dont understand why the original poster just doesnt lock it with the key - and that action locks all the doors at once. maybe it does not work for him.
