98' Civic ex transmission ?
hey guys,
I have an opportunity to buy a "white 1998 Honda Civic EX 5" , as the post says , with 143K miles on it. I'd be driving this just for the next 6 months between college campuses , so i won't need it over a long term. According to the post -" The car has already been diagnosed. The civic needs an ECU. A new or used one will fix the car. It could also use a used or new transmission but will run without this. The car doesn't have 3rd gear" . so the main reasons i would consider buying this car is :
1. I can buy it for under $800 initial
2. I believe it would get good gas mileage- not as a VW TDI , but possibly good enough (again, i'dbe paying 800 up front- i believe that'd offset the cost)
3. im hoping that popping the tranny out wouldnt be too hard to accomplish- i done the same thing with my current vehicle - an explorer- and it saved me mucho $$
4. im hoping that the honda stereotype of running forever holds true, at least until december!
So hopefully some of yall can give your two cents. If any of you think it be easy to replace, i'd love to buy it and stick a new tran in there and hope for the best.
