I've only ever driven one automatic (my sisters Plymouth Breeze) and it would rev to 5.5k. (Yeah I couldn't resist finding out lol.) I'd be surprised if the Civic wouldn't go higher.

well i know for older cars (like my friends 86 rustang) u can buy a thing called a stall converter that allows u to rev higher.... BTW-his stang is an auto and is pretty much a full blown drag car

If i punch it my car will redline.................You can make an auto decently fast, but id swap it. I turbod my car, its still auto, but I know I am losing a lot of power, which is why Im going to get converted to a 5 Speed.

Well, the auto sort of robs power... and doesnt let you shift over 4 rpm (correct me if Im wrong) so your car doesnt see the potential full power.
That's about right for normal driving and not flooring the pedal. My auto is severely underpowered, especially since is a SOHC too.... *sigh*

Pete how much is it costing you to have it converted to a 5 speed? I aways figured it should only cost labor, if you trade in your Automatic trany for the Manual.

I know that my EG doesn't shift after 4k unless you do what charly does. Some times if i really stomp on the gas it won't shift until i lift up.

an auto car is not faster than a manuel usually in any case, but a lot more consistant on a drag strip when you have a lot of hp.

but an auto car can be fast as **** if built right
