Default Best motor for a 92 hatch... thinking about a turbo!!

Hey, I wanted to know what is the best motor to run in a 1992 hatch? I have a 1.5 motor now that was built for a turbo, but i want to swap and then build a turbo motor out of that!

I dont know to much about honda motors so please explain why you think what the best motor is!!
thanks!!

if the motor you have now is built for a good amount of boost then once you turbo that motor it will blow most off the road. but like most motors the nicer the engine the more potential it will have, here a small list of the types of motor, B16=160hp, B18=180hp, k20=160 except the new ones are 197hp but i dont know if you can get your hands on those motors yet. or you could fo with a newer D16 motor, there is a huge performance backing for all B, K, D series engines. The real question to ask yourself is how much money do you want to spend. I got a question for you, if this is your daily driver why do you want to put money in it? why not in the focus? Im just curious.

I do put a lot of money into the focus, but parts are so expensive! With the civic, parts are a lot cheaper and its a lot cheaper to drive gas wise, the civic takes regular unleaded and my focus take premium only! Example: a GOOD turbo kit for a civic will run like what $2,200 or around there, a GOOD turbo kit for my focus will run $6,000 after tunning! (now im talking kits from a Co. I am not talking about if you build your own!)

I just like my daily drivers to have a little more than average HP!

Yea well once you boost the civic youll have to put the highest octane gas available in it. I run 93 octane in mine on 8psi

And cosworth.com isnt badly priced at all for the focus performance parts, but im not downing you wanting to build a civic at all. Like i said it all depends on how much you want to spend on your civic, if not to much put a turbo or swap in a B16, but if you wanting to drop some serious cash then i would swap for a B18 or K20 then do a build up that motor!

Problem is most cosworth dose not fit on the SVT 2.0 dual cam motors, most of the parts are made for the 2.3 in the newer focus. o well money is not really a mater to me, i love building cars! Cant take money to the grave with me so better have fun with it now!!

Well not to sure yet!! The car dose need a paint job as it is only primered right now!! The car comes with a new HU, 2.5 cat back exhaust, comp. clutch stage 1 or 2 (IDK), intake, short shifter, and the motor did have a turbo on it but the turbo cracked in half so no more turbo, but the kid did tell me he built the motor to handle the trubo at 6-8 psi.

I guess what i am looking at doing is swapin some body parts, doing another turbo setup if not getting a new motor and doing a turbo setup on that and then a swap!! Nothing huge, but something that is deff. not stock!! Thats why i want to know the best motor is so if i go with a diff. motor setup i know which one to get!!

Any ideas on what i should do would help too!!

Well the best motor is no doubt the K20, but it will hurt the wallet. A good motor that isnt to bad in price and ive heard people say good things about your gen of civic with the swap is the B18 (180 hp) motor. Plus you do a turbo running 6 lbs of boost and tune everything just right your civic would be as bad as hell! I wouldnt turbo your current motor if all it can do is 6 lbs, but the question is what do you want to do with your daily driver? do you want an evil civic? Or are you looking at a civic with some ***** but a car to get you back and forth? Evil civic= K20 or B18. Civic with *****= B16, B18B or B20B with the B18C1 head. i believe in this book i was reading it said the B18B or the B20B that was mated with a B18C1 head cranked out 197 hp from the high flow head and great torque because of the block. So what kind of civic are you building, bad as hell civic? civic with *****?
