Best Way to Take Off?
#11
Ok I'll try that next time.
Oh and whenever I shift quick from first to second at redline I always get this hard thump in response. It doesn't do this with any other gear shifts though...
Is it bad shifting or is it the transmission?

you mean a thump, or like a jerk motion, like the clutch just grabbing real hard with not enough gas or something? i know if i release the clutch fast and don't give it gas at the right time, the car will jerk kinda hard when the clutch grabs.

I thinks hes talking about like if you were to be near redline in 1st and just let off the gas and dont shift. The car pulls back hard and you would almost fly through the window, haha not really. You just gotta get that clutch down faster right as you let off the gas. You should probably just shift sooner from 1st to 2nd like if your redline is at 7400 then push down the clutch at like 7000 while keeping your foot on the gas for a split second. Not enough so the revs go past redline though. That way the car wont pull back and it will be a smoother shift since the revs are high. You know what Im saying? I dunno I dont race but I do drive stick so I think that would work.

how you stage your car really depends on how well built your car is the nice thing about a b16 vs any other motor k20,h22,b20,b18. The b16 has as much torque as a lawn-mower so you do not spin tires like a any of the above listed motors when there spinning tires all your doing is driving down the strip.

i usually pull the handbrake. release the clutch to near the catchpoint where the car starts to move a little forward, and then slip the clutch off so its a clean launch. i've shaved some time off my runs by doing it this way.
Tips to getting a "good" reaction time
DO NOT WAIT for the green light to come on.
The yellow ambers will flash 1 at a time .500 seconds apart
When the 3rd amber(yellow) light goes on LAUNCH your car. if you do that you will see a decent reaction time. once you get consistant you can tune yourself from there. perfect reaction at sparta is a .000 if you wait for the green your most likely comming out with a 1.xxx which is terrible
when your at the starting line, slowly pull up until you hit the first set light. pull the ebrake up alittle, enough to hold, and slowly relase the clutch and give it gas, you will feel the car lift up alittle bit in the back, it will slowly pull you into the second set light, launch on the last yellower and you should do pretty good.
Coles notes Launch your car on the 3rd yellow light NOT the green. use your e-brake.
