Default Check engine light

My 2008 Civic Hybrid check engine light is on. Could somebody with the manual send me the instruction and codes to check it? I did this sort of thing with a metal pin many years ago on older models. I hope this trick still works. Thanks a lot.

Support of the jumper wire / metal pin method was taken out of later models (after 2000 I think). You now have to use a computer-like device.

The check engine light disappears. Actually it came back on again once. But before I had a chance to bring the car to the nearby O'Reilly, it disappeared again and never came back.

I think it's related to the battery. One terminal was not tightened properly. I made it tighter.

it doesn't matter if the light went out the code will still be stored in its memory so get it scaned.

Today I took the car to O'Reilly to have a free check on the check engine light. It came back with code P1570. According to Google search, it seems to be a pretty common code for the Hybrid model. The big battery (IMA) may have some problems. I'll take it to the dealer. If there's anything interesting, I'll post back here.
