Default Civic Diesel for US

I did a search for this topic because I am a "newbie" here, but found nothing. If there are posts on this subject would love a steer. My wife and I aregoining to replace her Accord EX and we would love to know anything about Honda's new diesels for the US supposedly to arrive next year. And if diesel goes much higher in price has anyone speculated whether aCivic dieselwill be worth it compared to the Civic Hybrid?

If you want to save gas get a hybrid, not a diesel.

I've actually never heard of a diesel civic yet

They've been for sale in Europe for years, and a Diesel actually gets better milage then a hybrid

i've always wondered why they didn't combine their diesel technology with the hybrid technology, they would see such higher numbers.

I think part of the reason is that its easier on a gas to do the constant shutdown/restart that hybrids do then for a diesel. Diesel's are much happier idleing. They are also not nearly as high RPM although that may not have anything to do with it. You do raise an interesting point tho, one I hadn't thought of!

Hi. I'm Spanish and I have a Civic 08 diesel 2.2 i-CTDI, and it works very fine. This Diesel 2.2 is the best diesel of its category. In Barcelona (Spain) in the forum www.clubhondacivic.com we compared the 1.8 gasoline 140CV VS 2.2 Diesel 140CV, and win the Diesel, because it works with turbo. But I talk of the European version motors, and I don't know if the motors of the U.S. versions are equal.
